Oh no, I’ve been burgl’d (sad face)
September 8th, 2007I wasn’t sure whether or not I should post about this, because I try to keep the posts on bulius art related, or at least more positive.
But, to be honest, the best way to describe my current mood is, “well… fuck.” Sorry about the cursing. But seriously, “fuck.”
So, Friday night. I get home. First off, I’m in a new place, and it’s now been a week that I’ve been here. I had just seen a movie with some friends, and walked into the new apartment. My door seems to already have been unlocked. Weird. WTF? Why is my TV crooked? Wii is on the floor? Did I leave it like that? So then I start looking around, noticing that my apartment isn’t as I left it. My apartment wasn’t all flipped inside out like in the movies, but started to notice that junk was missing. What was missing? My mactop, my G5, and my D50. Pretty much, all of my art junk. Perhaps I should have been a painter? I freaked out a bit. Called the cops. Went to work so I could change all my passwords. The whole time I’m just thinking… “fuck, this sucks.” There seriously isn’t any easier way to describe it. Maybe it’s more like, “fuuuuuuuuuuuuuck, this sucks.”
All that junk can be replaced (I have renter’s insurance, we’ll see how that goes), but what I can’t replace is a lot of the art on those machines. I back up my source files every now and then, but it’s been a while. In addition to the art, a lot of my pictures are gone. I have a flickr account, but I just got that recently. All the pics on the mactop have been uploaded, but all my older stuff from the G5 haven’t been uploaded.
[sigh]
I really wanted to work on GFFFD. That won’t change, it’ll just be a bit more difficult. Right now, I have to wait for the guy to come over to change my locks.
On a lighter note, I wrote an open letter to the Internets asking for suggestions of things to draw (I’ve been drawing something new every day for about 3 weeks now, I want to see how long I can keep this going). The response has been pretty sweet, and I should have plenty of ideas for things for a while, but keep the suggestions coming! Also, I’ve been asked to do a tutorial video of how I draw things. I actually thought about doing it a while ago, but wasn’t sure how interested people would be. Would you guys care to see something like that? If anything, it should be humorous.
Anyway, thanks for letting me vent. I’m okay as long as I don’t have to answer the “what did they take?” question. Because then I go into “well… fuck” mode. Ben let me stay at his place last night, he’s been a big help. Leela (or “Reera”) looked genuinely concerned about my depressed state. That, or she was bummed that I wouldn’t let her chew on a stuffed Turt-turt.
[longer sigh]

DUDE! That sucks! I’m sorry to read that…. And all your great artwork is in someone else’s hands! Those bastards! They’ll get what’s coming to them hopefully.

Rat bastahds! What Supa G said. I have to say some of it again - that sucks and I’m sorry that happened. Stuff is stuff, but one’s work. Damn. Vent away.
Looking ahead at the glass half full, how about drawing a wacky looking boxer [dog]?

Background: my friend’s dog, his name is Brutus, and he was sweltering in 100 degree temps w/ no AC back in July, poor ting. And he hates water so no cooling him down that way.

Had the same thing happen to me and my neighbor a little over a year ago, on a Friday too. They figure your out drinking after work. I bought a $5 personal security alarm that has a pull string to set it off, attached it to my wall above my door, tied monofiliment to the pullstring and a keychain hook to the door on the other side. Now if my door is opened more than 6″ the alarm goes off. When I get home I open it slightly and unhook the alarm. Ghetto, but does the job on the cheap. Sorry.
